Dendrobates auratus can be found in Central and South America, from Nicaragua and Costa Rica to southeastern Brazil and Bolivia. They were introduced in Manoa in 1932.

The natural range of Cane Toads extends from the southern United States to tropical South America.  They were introduced into Hawaii in 1932.
